Tuesday my nephew and I watched The Reluctant Dragon. An 1941 Disney movie about Robert Benchley going to the Disney Studios to pitch an idea for a cartoon. However, like the Dragon of his story, he's reluctant. The story follows him around the studio as he learns all about the animation process. . . . . in 1941. The best part is how the movie starts in black and white but then colorizes as we learn more about animation. My nephew is 5. I wasn't sure how he would manage a black and white movie about an old guy. Surprisingly, he sat through and watched the whole thing quietly. In the end, Benchley learns that if you are reluctant, you may lose an opportunity. If you haven't seen it, check it out. I found it on Netflix.
